Gary G. “Pete” Capper, 66, of Springfield, passed away September 2, 2018 in his home following an eight year battle with cancer. He was born June 3, 1952 in Springfield, the son of Leland and Mae (Myers) Capper. Pete enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid outdoors man. He had been employed as a mechanic for over 40 years with many of those years working at Monte Zinn and Jeff Wyler. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, (having actually been together for 50 years) Vickie (DeLong) Capper, one daughter and son-in-law: Amber and Zayn Skiles, Springfield, three grandchildren; Jaiden (Natalie) Gilbert, Jessen (Chelsea) Gilbert and Emma Sue Dixon, two great grandchildren; Jaydee Gilbert and Chloe Gilbert, one brother; Duane Capper, Springfield, several nieces and nephews, mother-in-law; Stepherene Stokes, sisters-in-law; Joann (Kenny) Gamble and Teresa Nickell, brothers-in-law; Randy DeLong and Danny (Peggy) DeLong and his best friend and companion, his beloved dog; Millie. He was preceded in death by a daughter; Stephanie Capper, sister; Delores Reed, brothers; Kenneth Capper and Doug Capper, sister-in-law; Dot Capper, good friend; Steven “Moon Pie” Moon and his parents. Visitation will be held from 5:00PM until 8:00PM Friday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 12:30PM Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Paul Dowdy officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Condolences may be shared at www.jkzfh.com
