James “Rail” Compton peacefully transitioned Home Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 7:54am at Homestead NH. Rail, as he was fondly called, was born August 5, 1950 to James Edward and Pearlie Long-Compton in Springfield, OH. Rail was 2nd oldest of 6 siblings. He attended public schools in both Dayton and Springfield. Rail, a friendly yet private person, had many talents not known to many. He was an artist who cold draw anything or anyone. He was a great mathmatician. He loved jazz, sitting outside drinking his beloved beer with friends. H worked several factory and janitorial jobs over the years. Rail had two children. He leaves to mourn his passing; 1dgt., Dawn Compton-Wiley of Atlanta, GA; 2 sisters; Frances Garrett of Spfld., OH; Patrice (Rafael) Abdul Rahman of Seattle, WA.; 1 brother, Edward Compton; 1 grandson; 1 aunt, Jocinta Holloway of Dayton, OH.; 1 uncle, Robert Long of Spfld.; devoted friend, Harry Fisher, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Brian Crowley, 2 brothers, Steven and Keith Compton. There will be no services per his request.
