Richard Allen Swonger

Richard Allen Swonger, 80, of Springfield, passed away October 1, 2018 in Forest Glen surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 31, 1937 in Springfield, the son of James R. and Sadie Mae (Boblitt) Swonger. Mr. Swonger attended the Springfield Bible Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a member and strong supporter of the NRA. He had served in the Army National Guard for 10 years and was  a dedicated employee of General Motors retiring following 30 years of service. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years; Kathleen M. “Sis” (Kelly) Swonger, one brother; Robert Swonger, North Carolina, numerous nieces and nephews including great nieces; Brittany (Sean) Murphy and Myja Graves, Springfield, great great niece and nephews; Blayne and Alexis Murphy and Cole Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Thursday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Paul Dowdy officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Condolences may be shared at www.jkzfh.com
