Thomas E. Ennis, 67, passed forward December 18, 2019, following two years of failing health. He was born in Springfield, Ohio, November 17, 1952 to Robert L. and Auda (Thomas) Ennis, the fourth of four children, and resided in Springfield his entire life.
Tom was an organ and tissue donor. Other lives will be improved by his generosity.
Tom graduated from Springfield South High School. He secured employment with Vining Broom/O’Cedar Brands where he remained until the company closed decades later. He then obtained a commercial license and was a truck driver for two companies, affording him the opportunity to see much of the country. He sent post cards home from the many states he visited. Tom was also a certified locksmith.
Tom enjoyed photography and watching auto racing (especially, Earnhardt, Sr.). He also was well versed in politics at both state and national levels, and was always up for a heated debate.
Family was Tom’s greatest love. He enjoyed pulling out his cell to show pictures and videos of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Daughters, Tammy and Trisha, faithfully and lovingly cared for their father throughout his lengthy illness, on occasion requesting assistance from other family members.
Tom leaves to cherish his memory, daughters, Tammy White and Trisha Ennis, and son, Michael Ennis. Grandchildren: Raelonda White, Symone White, Alicia White, and DJ White; Andrea Phifer, Mykel Phifer, Ayshia Stephens and Eli Ennis. Great-grandchildren: Aneya Lewis, Zarion Clay, Ilan Battle, Amaya Jeffrey, Myla Huffman, David Robinson, and Adrynn Chilton. Brother, Robert (Janet) Ennis, Jr; Sisters: Donna Stephenson and Gloria Ennis (Choon Mo Yang); Many nieces and nephews, including: Jennifer DeLong, Andrea Barker, Megan Tarvin, Jason Ennis, Kenton Ennis, Jonathan Yang, and Christina Hernandez. He is also survived by former spouse and mother of his children, Olga Hernandez. Tom was preceded in death by both parents.
The family is being served by Jones Kenney Zechman Funeral Home where visitation begins at 9:00 A.M., Saturday, December 28, 2019. Service follows at 10:00 with Pastor Paul Dowdy officiating and concludes with graveside service at Rose Hill Burial Park.
You will be sadly missed, and forever in our hearts, Tom. Rest in well-deserved peace.
