Betty Conrad Obituary

Betty Pauline (Wamer) Conrad, 98, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Forest Glen Healthcare Center. She was born July 12, 1927 in Enon, Ohio, the daughter of Franklin Lee and Minnie Lee (Floyd) Wamer. Betty had worked as a long-distance operator at AT&T for 35 years before retirement. She leaves behind to cherish her memory a daughter and son-in-law, Karen (Conrad) and Bruce Zerkle; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Heidi Conrad; grandsons, Zack and Brandon Conrad; step grandchildren, Anneliese, Sean, and Jereme; special thank you to niece/caregiver, Sheila (Boswell) Rugh and her husband, Matt; beloved nieces, Nancy Wamer, Penny Oyen, Jade Perkins, Gracie Perkins, Cyndi Robertson, and Julianne Whitaker; and beloved nephews, Doug Wamer, Brian Perkins, Keith Wamer, Rick Boswell, Jeff Boswell, Bobby Boswell, Chase Perkins, and Duane Boswell. Betty was also loved by her many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings whom she cherished—five sisters, Esther Wamer Boswell, Carrie Wamer Roush, Tillie Wamer, Dorothy Wamer Wilson, and her baby sister and buddy Mary Wamer Perkins and two brothers, Kenneth Wamer and Franklin Wamer. Mark and Karen would like to give special thanks to their amazing cousins and Mom’s friends for the many years of loving care, pop-ins, good times, and friendship to our Mother. It takes a village, and we are so grateful for you. A special thank you to Forest Glen staff (you know who you are) who helped Mom daily…helped her live a better day. She loved her bingo buddies, Euchre friends, her painting classes, and especially Greg’s cookies! Mom loved flowers. She also loved children and animals. If you wish to make a donation, she loved St. Judes Children’s Hospital. Also, a local animal clinic in Clark County is in dire need of funds for rescue animals and vet care right now: Anything Pawsible Animal Resource Center (APARC), (937)653-7326. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, February 12 in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rick Clos officiating. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be shared online at www.jkzfh.com.
