Bruce Elmer McConkey

McCONKEY, Bruce Elmer, 68, of Springfield, was called Home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, July 11, 2024, surrounded by family in his home, following a battle with cancer. He was born January 15, 1956, in Springfield, the son of Floyd and Virginia (Schaub) McConkey. Bruce was a founding and devoted member of Grace Bible Church. He enjoyed kayaking, flying, planting trees, hiking, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered as always helping others and putting others first. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 9 years, Marie; three daughters, Jennifer and twins Rachal (Teagan) and Rebecca (Stephen); step-sons, Gregory (Autumn) and Jeremy (Sarah); grandson Samuel; eleven step-grandchildren; siblings, Charlie (Bonnie) McConkey, Marlene (Greg) Elwood, and Rita (Richard) Storie; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd; mother, Virginia; and late wife, Trudi. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday in Grace Bible Church, 1500 Groop Road, Springfield, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday in Grace Bible Church with Pastor Nathan Rambeck and Pastor Jason Storie officiating. Burial will follow in Vale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clark Soil & Water Conservation District in Bruce’s name (3130 E. Main St. Springfield, OH 45503) to plant trees in his honor.
