Candy Harlan Prater, Jr., 63, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born July 1, 1961 in Springfield, the son of Suzanna (Prince) and Candy H. Prater, Sr. Candy enjoyed racing, playing the dice game “Bones,” and especially spending time with his family. Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Rhonda (Mossbarger) Prater; two daughters, Alexis (Lewis) Botkin and Alona (Scott) Arnold; grandchildren, Chloe (Rickie), Candyn, and Marion; bonus granddaughter, Autumn; bonus great-granddaughter, Ella; siblings, Nonnie (Carson) Ewing, Wilma Prater (fiancé Lionel), and Chris (Sandy) Prater; special friends, Greg and Rachel Winget; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister, Louise Prater; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Alice Prater; and his parents. Friends may call from 1-2:30 pm Friday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 pm with Pastor Kermit Wilson officiating. Following the service, friends and family are invited to a gathering at the Lil Country Church, 5020 Old Columbus Rd. Springfield, from 4-6 pm. Condolences may be shared at ww.jkzfh.com.
