Carl W. Sheffler

Carl W. Sheffler, age 86, born Greensburg, PA, currently of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully September 24, 2025, surrounded by family.

Carl proudly served his country in the United States Air Force until retirement, followed by a long career with the U.S. Postal Service where he retired again. After retirement, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—his beloved Steelers, model trains, Corvettes, time with his wife, children and grandchildren, and the companionship of his cats, Fluffy and Minnie.

Carl was deeply devoted to his wife, Lola, with whom he shared 37 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

He is survived by his wife, Lola; his children, Tina (Larry) Cook, Laura (Jeff) Box, Joseph Sheffler, and Eli (Amy) Closson; and his grandchildren, Heather (Robert) Ebbecke, Mitchell Cook, Logan Cook, Lily Closson, and Chloe Closson.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Lily (Stairs) Sheffler; his brother, Robert “Bud” (Rose) Sheffler; his sister, Dorothy (Rich) Nelson; and his granddaughter, Athena Sheffler.

He will be remembered as a dedicated husband, loving father and grandfather, and loyal friend. His family and friends will miss him dearly.

Services will be held at Jones Kenney Zechman Funeral home in Springfield, OH on Saturday, October 4, 2025.  The family will gather at 9:00am, followed by visitation at 10:00am, with the services at 11:00am with Pastor Rick Clos officiating.  The burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery, Springfield, OH immediately following the service.
