Carol Ann Smith, 74, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born May 27, 1952 in Springfield to Donald and Carolyn Jean (Hedgecock) Greiner. Carol graduated from Northeastern High School. She had worked at Reiter Dairy and Joy’s Bridal Shop before retiring from Scotts Miracle-Gro. Carol was a skilled seamstress who made cherished prom and wedding dresses for her daughters and other family members. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and making cards for loved ones. She was the “Karaoke and Dancing Queen” and a proud member of the Eagles, where she enjoyed singing and dancing with her friends. Carol had a larger than life personality, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her beloved Daniel “Danny” Wilson; three daughters, Wendi Conley, Heather (Carl) Hellyer, and Rebekah (John) Malone; grandchildren, Scotty Hall, Lincoln Hall, Mickenzie Hall, William Hall, Lacey Hall, Keagan Ireton, Christian Yarbrough, Madyson Smith, and Aisiss Malone; six great-grandchildren with one more on the way; sisters, Susie Fox and Debbie (Ken) Koelewyn; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Smith; brothers-in-law, Ronn Fox, Greg Hoover, and Sam Wilson; son-in-law, Jason McClanahan; and her parents.
