Carolyn Sue Mitchell, a cherished matriarch, and beloved school bus driver, went home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2025, in New Carlisle, Ohio, surrounded by the love of her family. She received Christ in March of 2006 and was baptized on July 9th, 2006. Born on June 8, 1950, in Springfield, Ohio, Carolyn's warmth and nurturing spirit were evident from a young age. She was the heart of her family, a role she embraced with every fiber of her being, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion.
Carolyn's life was one of service and care, both in her professional capacity and within her family. As a school bus driver, she touched the lives of countless children, greeting them with a smile each morning and ensuring their safe passage to and from school. Her love for her work was only surpassed by the absolute joy she found in her family. She was a beloved mother to Brian and his wife Melinda Haney, and a doting grandmother to Rebecca, Charles, and Brooklynn. Her siblings, Fred Haney and Gladys Anstead, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family members, will miss her deeply.
The bond Carolyn shared with her grandchildren was particularly special. She found great pleasure in watching WWE Wrestling with them and thier friends, an activity that became a cherished tradition and a source of countless fond memories. Carolyn was the quintessential caretaker, always putting others before herself, a trait that endeared her to everyone she met.
Her parents, Paris Haney and Rebecca (McGlone) Haney preceded her in death. Despite these losses, Carolyn's strength and compassion never wavered, and she continued to be the cornerstone of her family.
Renowned for her selflessness, Carolyn's presence was a comfort to all. She was a woman who lived by the words of Maya Angelou, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Indeed, those who had the privilege of knowing Carolyn will never forget the warmth and kindness she bestowed upon them.
As we say farewell to Carolyn Sue Mitchell, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman dearly loved. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, and her memory will be treasured in our hearts forever. A gathering of friends and family will be held Monday, February 17, 2025, from 4-6PM at the Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home located at 1002 E. High Street, Springfield, Ohio, 45505.
