Cecil Lanham Sr.

Cecil Lanham, Sr., a proud Vietnam Army Veteran, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, at the age of 78 in Springfield, Ohio. Born on April 16, 1946, in the Swiss, West Virginia community, Cecil's life was one of dedication, joy, and spirited engagement with the world around him.

Cecil's early life in Swiss, West Virginia, laid the foundation for a man who valued hard work, commitment, and family above all else. His career at Kroger saw him respected by colleagues and customers alike for his reliability and warm demeanor. Cecil's service to his country as a Vietnam Army Veteran was a source of immense pride for him and instilled in his family a deep respect for the sacrifices made by those in uniform.

Though predeceased by his beloved sons, Cecil Lanham Jr. and Daniel Lanham Sr., Cecil's legacy lives on through his adoring grandchildren: Matt, Scotty, Daniel (DJ), Jeffrey, Jamie, Kyler, Korrie, Karson, Emmalee, Devyn, Travis, Eli, Kelly, Katie, and Marc. Each of them carries a piece of Cecil's spirit and continues to reflect his enduring values and love of life.

An avid fan of bourbon, beer, and coffee, Cecil knew how to savor the simple pleasures of life. His competitive spirit shone brightly during poker games, where he was a formidable opponent and a gracious winner. Cecil's passion for crime shows, especially NCIS, was well-known, and he never missed an opportunity to enjoy an episode, often sharing theories and insights with family and friends.

Cecil's warmth, wisdom, and wit touched many lives. His ability to bring laughter into any room and his unwavering support for his family and friends will be deeply missed. Cecil Lanham was a man who lived his life with honor, joy, and a love for those around him that knew no bounds. His memory will be cherished and celebrated by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His story is one of love, service, and the enduring strength of family. Cecil Lanham’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of those he leaves behind. A memorial service will be held at the JONES-KENNY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 4-6 PM.
