Cheryl Kay Casey, age 78, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 1, 2025, in Springfield, Ohio.
Born in Springfield to David "Maxie" Williams and Elva Katherine "Katy" Williams, Cheryl was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of everyone she met. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jeffery "Buddy" Casey, and a whole host of cherished family and friends, including her best friends Irma Beard and Barb and Jerry Krieg, whom she lovingly cared for until their passing.
Cheryl never knew a stranger—she was family to all. Her home was always open, offering shelter, love, and kindness to anyone in need, from childhood friends of her children to displaced family members. Her giving spirit was truly unmatched.
She leaves behind her beloved children, James D. Casey and Patricia A. Casey, along with her special, loving niece, Carla Wagner, and the daughter of her heart, Becky Branum. She was a proud grandmother to Ashley Casey, Nicholas Casey, Ryan Casey (Kelly), Caleb Wagner (Kathy), Westley Wagner (Morgan), and Casey, as well as a devoted great-grandmother to Jaesen D. Casey, who always held a special place in her heart.
Cheryl is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, David and Vicky Williams; her sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Ed Moore, sister and brother-in-law, Michelle and Jason Getz; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Cheryl was a hardworking and dedicated woman, spending years at Bob Evans Restaurant from the day it first opened its doors in Springfield until she was forced into early retirement due to a car accident. Even in retirement, she kept herself busy—caring for loved ones, serving as an ordained pastor, supporting her church in every way possible, and sharing laughter over card games with Tina Dowell and Joyce Fugate (with Joyce often accusing her of cheating!).
In her later years, when she became bedbound, she found joy in board games, card games, and competing in golf and bowling on the Wii. Her strength, love, and unwavering faith will forever be an inspiration to those she leaves behind.
Cheryl’s kindness, generosity, and humor will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love will live on in all who were blessed to have known her.
Visitation will be held from 2:00PM until 5:00PM on Saturday February 8, 2025, in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. A service to celebrate and honor Cheryl’s life will be held at 5:00PM with her very special friend, Pastor Linda Jones officiating. Condolences may be shared at www.jkzfh.com.
