Cynthia “Cindy” Castagnier, age 68, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026.
Born September 11, 1957, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Cindy was the daughter of Richard Cook and Barbara Nicolet. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, she carried throughout her life the resiliency, strength, and sense of service that her time in the military instilled in her.
Cindy was an avid reader and a devoted sports enthusiast, with a special love for basketball, baseball, and football. Whether cheering from the stands or from her favorite chair at home, she embraced the spirit and excitement of every game. Above all else, the greatest joy of Cindy’s life were her grandchildren, whom she loved deeply and spoke of often with immense pride.
She is survived by her children, Danielle (Tony) Buskirk Stapleton and Lucas (Tina) Cydrus; her beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth Stiles, Olivia and Wesley Buskirk, Hayleigh Brown, and Grayson and Everleigh Cydrus; and her siblings, Deana (Steve) Schuler, Mark Callicoat, and Melissa (Nick) Rogers.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Cook and Barbara Nicolet, as well as her siblings Rick Cook and Rebecca Cook.
Cindy will be remembered for her warm heart, her resilience, her humor, and the unwavering love she had for her family. Her legacy lives on in the stories she shared, the laughter she inspired, and the many lives she touched.
