David Rose passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, at the age of 73, in his hometown of Springfield, OH. Born on March 17, 1951, to the late Homer and Agnes (McBlaine) Rose, David's life was one marked by dedication, love, and a joyful spirit that touched everyone he met. David grew up in Springfield, where he attended and graduated from high school. After completing his education, he bravely served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. His time in the service instilled in him a sense of duty and honor that he carried with him throughout his life.
After his military service, David returned to Springfield, where he became a cherished member of the community. He was known for his friendly demeanor and his willingness to lend a helping hand. David's interests were simple yet profound; he found joy in fishing, where the patience and quiet of the sport mirrored his own approach to life. Bowling nights were a highlight for him, as he cherished both the competition and camaraderie.
David's greatest joy, however, was his family. He was a devoted father to his children, Robin Rose, who married Charles Harris Jr., Erica, who found love with Bobby Lyons, and Shawn Lowman, who tied the knot with Ashley, and Wendi Kimball (BFF/Sister). He raised them with love and taught them the values of kindness, perseverance, and humor. David's role as a grandfather to Tre'von, Domonique, and Ji'yah Rose was one he embraced with enthusiasm as well as his role as great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren. The sparkle in his eye was brightest when he was driving his grandkids around, sharing stories and laughter.
He is survived by his sister, Linda Cook, and her husband Donald, who have been pillars of support and love throughout his life. David also leaves behind a cherished great niece, Henley Cook, a nephew, Christopher Cook, along with his wife Angela, who will both remember their uncle with fondness and deep respect, and his best friend (brother) Barry Lookabaugh, who spent such quality time with his friend. David was preceded in death by two siblings: Richard Rose and Donald Rose.
David's departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his legacy is one of unwavering love and the countless memories he created with his family and friends. His was a life well-lived, filled with the simple pleasures that make a life rich and fulfilling.
A visitation to celebrate David's life will be held Friday, January 31, 2025, from 6pm-7:30pm, with a service at 7:30pm, officiated by the family’s close friend, Shannon Sparks. David Rose's story is not one of sorrow but of a journey completed with grace, a life lived fully, and a rest well earned. Donations may be made to the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME to help the family cover the costs of David’s funeral services.
As we say goodbye to David, we also say thank you—for his service, for his love, and for the joy he brought into our lives. His legacy will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, and all those who were fortunate enough to have known him. David Rose will be deeply missed, but the memories he leaves behind will forever be cherished. The family wants everyone to know they are invited to join the family after the service at the Hill Apartments Clubhouse for a celebration of David’s life. Condolences may be shared at www.jkzfh.com
