Donald "Don" Gilbert Mick, Sr.

Donald “Don” Gilbert Mick, Sr., 66, of New Carlisle, lost his months-long battle with cancer on Friday, August 29, 2025 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born on April 23, 1959 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, the son of Juanita Elaine (Speth) and John Gilbert Mick, Jr. Don spent the majority of his working years on the road as a truck driver, and he also enjoyed a stint working at a horse farm. He loved being outdoors and working in his shed. He enjoyed watching true crime shows and spending time with his girlfriend and their pets. Survivors include Don’s two children, Donald G. Mick, Jr. (fiancée Amber Ploessl) and Heather Mick; his longtime girlfriend, Vikki Smart; grandchildren, Kennedee, Michael, and Beau Mick; great-grandchildren, Rory and Khaleesi McCarthy; stepdaughter, Michelle Smart; step grandchildren, Selena Henning and Arianna Wallgren two sisters, Kathy Gould and Theresa O’Brien; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother, Joseph Mick; sister, Patricia Mick-Rackow; and his parents. A celebration of Don’s life will be held on Saturday, September 6 from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the VFW Post 10533 in Shullsburg, Wisconsin, 322 WI-11.
