Douglas Richard Black Sr., 68, of Springfield, passed away and went home to be with the Lord on September 15, 2025, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 25, 1957, in Springfield, the son of Clyde and Dorothy (Cook) Black. Mr. Black enjoyed boating, drag racing, model cars and spending time with his loving family. He had been employed as a bus driver for the Springfield City Bus Company (SCAT) for 16 years. Survivors include his mother; Lulabelle Black, three children; Douglas Richard Black Jr. (Penny), Heather Trimmer (Brad) and Aundrea Black, his companion and care giver for several years; Linda Frantz, grandchildren; Zeith Black (Mary Beth), Lahela Dunn (Joe), Greyson Black, Ellie Black, Aleeseah Trimmer, Aryah Trimmer, Aunah Trimmer, Mayci McDonald, Brianna McDonald, (Marjuan Fisher), Hanna McDonald and Tessa McDonald, great grandchildren; Canaan Dunn, Jhene’ Whitedale, Aaron Horne, Ashton Horne and Karter Mayes, siblings; Pete Black, Daniel Black, Bruce Black, Chris Black, Nancy Eggers (Rick Brown) and Jackie Bradley and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters; Suzi Howell and Patty Whipp and his parents. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Mark Martin officiating.
