Gladys Stepherene (DeLong) Stokes, 88 of South Charleston, OH, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025 at home surrounded by her family.
Stepherene was born on May 18, 1937 in Turkey Creek (Pike County), KY, the daughter of Kyle and Lula Cassidy.
She was married to Roscoe DeLong on December 10, 1954. He passed away on April 6, 1972.
From that marriage was born five children, Vickie (Pete) Capper, Joann (Kenny) Gamble, Teresa Nickell, Randy DeLong, and Danny (Peggy) DeLong. She is also survived by a sister, Myrtle Gardener; brother, Kyle (Hilda) Cassidy Jr.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
Stepherene married Michael W. Stokes on February 14, 1987, and he passed away on September 26, 2017.
She had worked for many years as a manager and waitress at several local restaurants, such as Stitzel’s Pleasant Street Market, Selma Road Grill, and the Bancroft Hotel.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 PM Saturday at the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Jim Britton officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Condolences may be shared at www.jkzfh.com.
