Gayla Drown Obituary

     Gayla Irene Drown, 72, of Urbana, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on September 7, 2025. She was born May 12, 1953, in Springfield, the daughter of Roger and Shirley (Adams) Teets. Gayla enjoyed shopping, taking care of children and spending time with her wonderful family. She had been employed at Rhoades Paper Box and then went in to the Foster Care Program with her husband Larry for many years, Survivors include her beloved husband; Larry E. Drown, five children; Jerry Meeks, Jason (Anita) Meeks, Bethany Drown, Mason Drown and Wyatt Drown, six grandchildren; Justin, Kaleb, Austin, Aviana, Berkeley and Colton, three great grandchildren; Kimber, Karisa and Avalon, siblings; Doris McPeek, Steve (Cathy) Teets and Regina (Marvin) Howell, many nieces and nephews and special friends; Jerry Meeks Sr and Pamela Lay. She was preceded in death by a son; Steve Meeks and her parents. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Gayla’s brother Steve Teets officiating. Friends may visit with Gayla’s family from 11:30 AM until the time of the services. Burial will follow in Myers Cemetery, North Hampton.
