Gene Franklin Scerba Sr., 85, of Springfield, passed away December 18, 2024, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 27, 1939, in Sugar Creek, Ohio, the son of Eugene and Elsie (Hook) Scerba. Gene was a member of the Union Club, the V. F. W Post 1031 and the Eagles. He enjoyed art, drawing, puzzles and collecting baseball cards. He was a Veteran of the United States Army retiring following 23 years of service. He was also a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. Gene had been employed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Survivors include four children; Elsie Scerba Crable, Mary Scerba, Gene Scerba Jr. and Mark Jason Scerba Sr., Gene’s former spouse; Thongsee Noi Scerba, grandchildren; Ashley Scerba, Montisha (Victor) Dennis Scerba, Keionna Scerba, Geoni Scerba, Questa Scerba and Mark Jason Scerba Jr., great grandchildren; Damitri Lawrence, Senai Beattie, Isaac Dennis Scerba, Athena Dennis Scerba, Mulana Averhart, Sunasja Sutton and Syier Sutton, one sister; Charlotte (Butch) DeSantis and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife; Edna Scerba, grandson; Dashawn T. Lawrence, siblings; Lewis Scerba, Charles Scerba and Carl Scerba and his parents. Funeral services will be held at 1:30PM Friday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Danny Miller officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services.
