Gerald R. Childs

Gerald R. Childs, 80, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2023. He was born February 9, 1943, the son of Burly H. and Ruby P. Childs. Gerald was a veteran of the US Army. He loved racing and rebuilding old cars, rebuilding motorcycles, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. His memory will live on forever through surviving loved ones; his wife, Carlene; brothers, Bill Childs of Springfield and Terry Childs of Tennessee; daughters, Sherry Rosseland of Troy and Teresa (Terry) Roy of Urbana; stepson, Dieter of Springfield; two grandsons, Roger and Matt; three granddaughters, Lisa, Megan, and Michelle; eight great-grandchildren; one adopted granddaughter; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Beverly Compton and Vicki Wilson; and his best friend, Ken “Big Red” Seelig. A memorial gathering will be held from 2-4 pm on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 1616 Selma Rd. Springfield, OH 45505. Chaplain Barron Seelig will officiate. Please bring a side dish and drink.
