Harold “Jeff” Conley, 92, passed away surrounded by his family on September 7, 2024. He was born in Brushy Fork in Salyersville, Kentucky to the late Taylor and Jamima “Gigi” (Gullett) Conley. After returning from serving in the US Army, he worked for Ashland Oil before relocating to Ohio, where he started Conley Well & Drilling. He later retired from the Local Painters Union 249 after 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Sue Pennington Conley; his two sons, Perry Conley and Jeffrey (Cindy) Conley; daughter-in-law, Georgia Conley; five grandchildren, Natasha (Todd) Chesnut, Colleen (Troy) Fowler, Wesley (Shannon) Dinnen, Courtney (Ryan) Stradling, and Zane (Bailey) Conley; eight great-grandchildren, Anthony Chesnut, Grace and Elise Fowler, Sebastian, Saylor, and Brooks Dinnen, Leo Stradling, and Michael Conley; as well as his brother Cecil “Sheep” Conley and other relatives and friends. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Conley, and siblings, Harry Conley, Ethel Adams, Edna Napper, and Lillian Howard. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Thursday at the Lighthouse Tabernacle, 5202 Valley Pike, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday in the church with Pastor Rick Clos officiating. Burial, with Army military honors, will follow at Terre Haute Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alpha-1 Foundation or St. Jude.
