James Martin “Marty” Brewer, 63, of Pitchin, passed away November 13, 2024. He was born August 1, 1961, in Springfield, the son of Robert E. and Juanita M. (Harner) Brewer. What can be said about Marty that everyone that’s ever met him doesn’t already know? That his acceptance, love, loyalty and generosity far exceeded his size. He knew no strangers and always had a willing smile and encouragement for anyone that crossed his path. He was a loving and loyal son, brother, and uncle. He was called brother by many of his friends. He and his wife, Paula, worked the haunted house and haunted Trail for years together, helping to create many memories of laughter and thrills with and for thousands of people. He was facilities manager and head of the security at the Springfield Museum of art for quite a few years. He was known as Santa for at least two generations of people in Springfield and to hundreds of children. He was also Santa for adults 365 days a year as they knew and met him. When he left this world to begin his next great adventure, he was welcomed by everyone that ever knew and loved him and there’s no one here now whose life he had not impacted and made better for knowing him. His walk of faith, as he followed the teachings of Christ, was no great burden to Marty. He surely did endure to the end. Godspeed Marty Godspeed. Survivors include his beloved sister; Juanda-Lynn Dale, loving nieces; Terri-Lynn Rush and Erica (Brewer) Tith and son; Joshua Lee Brewer and many friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved with Paula Jean (Neff) Brewer, a brother; Robert C. “Chris” Brewer and his parents. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday in Garlough Cemetery with visitation being held for one half hour prior to the services at the cemetery. Burial will follow.
