James “Jim” Grady Conley, Sr., 89, of Springfield, passed away Friday, May 2, 2025 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born October 15, 1935 in Paintsville, Kentucky, Jim was a veteran of the United States Navy Reserves and founder of the Springfield PWP chapter. He worked as an engineer before retiring from Oilgear in Longview, Texas. He loved working on old cars, appreciating the challenges of troubleshooting and problem-solving. Jim was a lifelong learner, and his loved ones were blessed to benefit from his endless wisdom. In his free time, he spent countless hours Enduro off-road motorcycle racing, traveling, and listening to music. But his greatest joy was spending time with his family; they meant everything to him. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Dean McNabb; one surviving sister on his mother’s side, Jean (Jim) Henderson; numerous other siblings, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace (Gullett) Rice; father, William Grady Conley; son, James Grady Conley, Jr.; and four brothers. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 am until the services begin. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Condolences may be shared at www.jkzfh.com.
