John Wesley Watkins Jr.

     John Wesley Watkins Jr., 58, of Springfield passed away December 9, 2025, in Kindred Hospital, Dayton, Ohio., He was born October 24, 1967, in Dayton, the son of John Wesley Watkins Sr and Linda (Grove) (Watkins) Ellison. Mr. Watkins enjoyed listening to music, washing his car, watching the Buffalo Bills play football, taking short drives and playing games. His favorite times were spent with his loving family. He retired from Morgal Tool as a machinist. Survivors include three children; John Wesley Watkins III, Brittany Watkins, and Stephanie Watkins, five grandchildren; Jada Watkins, Jae’Mya Watkins Ja’Kori Watkins, Amani Love and Alijah Watkins, John’s step mother; Teresa Watkins, his former wife; Mary Watkins, siblings; David (Janie) Watkins, Brian (Jane) Watkins, Timothy Watkins, Anthony Travis, Shelia (James) Blankenship and Ashley Lyons, special lifelong friend; Eddie Gatewood and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Chauncey Watkins and his stepfather; Mark Ellison. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Friday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rick Clos officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until the time of the services.
