Joseph H. Dillard, born on January 25, 1940, near South Solon, Ohio was received into the loving arms of Jesus on March 18, 2025, in his Springfield, Ohio home after a long illness.
He was predeceased by his father, Henton, and mother, Bernice, and his sisters Mary Long and Martha Graham.
Joe is survived by Rose, his wife of 61 years, two daughters - Crystal (Dan) Hammond and Twana (Brian) Cheek as well as four grandchildren - Ben (Brittany) Hammond, Heather Hammond, Nathan Cheek and Brynna Cheek. He was blessed with two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Judah Hammond. He was also blessed with four nieces and their families.
After graduating from Circleville Bible College (Ohio Christian University), Joe and Rose served on the Texas-Mexican border as missionaries and pastored several churches in Ohio during their ministry with the Churches of Christ in Christian Union.
Joe taught us generosity as he would go out of his way to help anyone in need. He was such a hard worker and could outlast anyone working or walking with him and was always willing to try to beat anyone in a game. Joe’s journey on this earth was one marked by compassion, generosity, laughter, unwavering faith in God, and love for his family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Forest Valley Free Will Baptist Church, 1821 Troy Rd., Springfield, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Del Wallace officiating. The internment will be held following the service with family members.
