Linda Sue (Ferguson) Long went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 23rd, surrounded by family, and after a long-fought battle with Alzheimer’s.
Linda was born on April 23, 1941, in Waverly, Ohio, to Paul Dwight Ferguson and Mary Marguerite (Lane) Ferguson. She spent her adult life in Springfield, where she built a life centered around her family.
As a young adult, she attended Clifton Avenue Church of God, and in more recent years, attended First Christian Church.
Linda found joy in the simple things and the people she loved most. She was an avid bowler and golfer, and she had a special talent for crafting—always creating something thoughtful and beautiful to share with others. Her most special talent, however, was what she enjoyed the most, which was being a mother and a grandmother.
She was a devoted wife of almost 53 years to her husband, James Long, of Springfield, Ohio, and a loving mother to her daughters, Kim (Wayne) Standard-Bryant (FL) and Dea Mihaly (OH). She was a proud grandmother to Heather Leifheit (Jeremy) (TN) and Jacob Gullett (Brittany) (MO) and a cherished great-grandmother to Grace, JD, and Maddie, who brought her so much happiness.
Linda will be remembered for the love she poured into her family. She had a way of making people feel welcomed and cared for, and her memory will live on in all who knew her.
The family will hold a private celebration of life to honor Linda. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association can be made in her name to honor her memory.
