Lonnie Fannin, 73, was joyfully reunited with his Lord and Savior and his beloved wife, Cathy, on February 23, 2025. With the wind at his back and the memories of a lifetime in his heart, he rode off into the sunset in his '57 Chevy, a car that was as classic and timeless as he was.
Born on April 4, 1951, to Crate and Dorothy (Flannery) Fannin, Lonnie spent his life as a devoted husband, a loving father, and a loyal friend. A hardworking man, he dedicated many years as a truck driver, but his true happiness came from the simple joys in life—having Cathy by his side, spending time with his family, watching a good Western, and the companionship of his faithful dog, Starr. Lonnie had a heart as big as the open road and a spirit that could never be tamed. His laughter, kindness, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
He leaves behind a family who adored him, including his sisters Ellen (Jim) Barnett, Lucy Domanek, Mary (Ed) Pendergrass, Dorothy (Brett) Short, and his brother-in-law Bobby Baker.
His legacy continues through his children: Nikki (Rob) Kasal, Angie (Shane) Packer, Jeremy Jones, Alan (Kelly) Stevens, Lisa (Jon Burks) Rutroff, Billie (Natasha) Stevens, Tisha Payne, and Melissa(Jeremy) Kennedy, as well as his special niece and nephew, Shelly Whitt and Scott (Becky) Pollard.
Lonnie was a proud grandfather to 23 grandchildren: Jacob Roller, Nicholas Packham, Travis and Nicholas Roland, Ella Jones, Tyler, Trevor, Kaylee, Alayna, and Lucas Stevens, Andrew Rutroff, Samantha (Drew) Boysel, Matthew (Tierra Randle) Rutroff, Jonathon, Breanna, and Landon Burks, Jaykob Cave-Stevens, CJ, Amaya, and Maverick Taylor, Searra Smith, Casey (Taylee) Haschke, and Dustin Kennedy.
His love extended to his 9 great-grandchildren: Caiden, Avery, Aubree, Madelyn, Lilian, Myla, Westyn, Liam, and Odessa.
Awaiting him in heaven with open arms are his wife, Cathy, his siblings Anna Whitt, Phyllis Baker, Betty and Junior Davis, Mark Domanek, Nephew Brandon Barnett, his grandson August James Stevens, and great-grandson Oliver Ray Stevens.
Lonnie's life was one well lived, full of love, laughter, and countless memories. Though his truck has reached its final stop, his journey lives on in the stories told and the love he left behind. May he rest easy, forever riding with Cathy by his side.
