Mae Haney

Mae Haney, 88, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Good Shepherd Village. She was born December 29, 1936 in Hazard, Kentucky, the daughter of Thomas and Callie (Price) Thacker. Mae was great at taking care of others, and it was this quality that led her to work in home health care. She attended Sunset Freewill Baptist Church and then Beatty Freewill Baptist Church, both for many years. She enjoyed working in her garden and going to yard sales. Her husband Carl played bluegrass music on his guitar, and she loved singing along with him. Survivors include her two sons, Johnny Surbaugh (Wanda Banfield) and Don A. “Tony” Surbaugh; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Surbaugh; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews, including special niece Debbie Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie “Carl” Haney; son, David L. Surbaugh; her parents; and her ten siblings. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services.
