Rebecca "Becky" Evans

Rebecca “Becky” Evans, 50, of Springfield, OH, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024. Born on October 7, 1973, in Springfield, Becky lived a life marked by love, kindness, and a deep connection to others.

Becky’s heart was as big as her love for the people around her. She had an empathetic nature, always focused on others, and never hesitated to lend a listening ear or a kind word. Known for her attentiveness, Becky never forgot the little details about the people she loved, making every interaction with her meaningful. Her hard-headedness was a sign of her deep care for those closest to her, and she never hesitated to share her true feelings with those she cherished most.

In addition to her loving nature, Becky worked for several years at TAC Industries, where she repaired and fixed cargo nets for the military. She made countless friends in each of the towns she called home—Springfield, Ohio, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Gallipolis, Ohio. Becky never knew a stranger and left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her close companion and partner, Steve Fisher; her mother, Patti (Kearns) Steinmetz; her father, Henry Watkins; her step-father, Edward Steinmetz; her sister, Lisa Evans; and her grandparents, Elizabeth (Betty) Kearns and George Kearns.

Becky is survived by her two beloved sons, Jesse Evans-Jenkins and Michael Shirk; her aunt, Freda Antonio-Aviles; her uncle, Jerry Kearns; and her special friends, Mary Lou Rhoades and Ben Riedmiller. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who were blessed to know her.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Developmental Disabilities of Clark County, Allen View Healthcare Center, and TAC Industries for their support and assistance to Becky over the years. Becky lived the best life she could do to the support of those around her.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 10, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Friday, October 11, at 1:30 PM at the same location, with Pastor Paul Dowdy officiating. A procession to Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Springfield will follow.
