Richard Lee Smith, Sr.

Richard Lee Smith Sr., 70, of Springfield, passed away Thursday May 8, 2025, in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born May 7, 1955, in Springfield, the son of Charles Smith and Evelyn Ironton. Mr. Smith enjoyed fishing, football and spending time with his loving family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids. He had been employed in the construction field and was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. Survivors include his beloved wife of 42 years, Colleen Lori (McWilliams) Smith, seven children; Elizabeth Smith, Richard (Barbara) Smith Jr., Cliff Smith, Jason (Ashton) Smith, Evelyn Smith, Ralph (Carla) Smith and Ronelle Rose, grandchildren; Richard, Steven, Tylee, Richard III, Elvis, Bertha, Clifford Jr., Cyle, Christian, Becky, Charlene, Casie, Caleb, Katie, Selena, Jason Jr., Johnny, Tozya, Cody, Cloey. Ralph Jr. Raylee, Dylan, Branden and Joann, many great grandchildren, siblings; Sherry (Dean) Smith and Gary (Robin) Smith and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by children; Christopher Smith and John Smith, grandchildren; Colleen and Jammie, siblings; Charles, Charleen, Kiim and Coleen and his parents. Funeral services will be held at 1:30PM Thursday, May 15, 2025, in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Paul Dowdy officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services in the funeral home. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Condolences may be shared at www.jkzfh.com.
