Ricky Eugene “Rick” May, 79, of Springfield, passed away peacefully August 28, 2024, in Kettering Hospital, Dayton. He was born May 27, 1945, in Springfield, the son of Homer and Esther (Bailey) May, Jr. Rick was a member of the Home Road Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed playing golf, being a snowbird in Florida for over 15 years, but his true joy was spending time with his great-grandchildren. Rick was a hard worker who was known to be a jack of all trades. He was retired from Speco/Kelsey-Hayes, and he had been employed at Sweet Manufacturing, Controx and had most recently been a dedicated employee of Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home. Survivors include one son, Todd (Carrie) May; six grandchildren, Austin May, Lexi (Jacob) Welsh, Allison Scott, Logan Algren, McKenzie Algren, and Alivia Algren; five great-grandchildren, Owen Scott, Berkley May, Millie Scott, Pennington Welsh and Elowen Welsh; one sister, Judy (Butch) Summers; and many nieces, nephews, and good friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sena Faye May, May 22, 2021; a daughter, Shelley Algren; and his parents. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm Wednesday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rick Clos officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4-6 pm.
