Robert Eugene “Bob” Erlewine, 90, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024 in Wooded Glen. He was born May 16, 1934, in Springfield, the son of Aldo Eugene and Mary Ann (Hardman) Erlewine. Bob was a member of the Lawrenceville Community Church and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He served with the Army National Guard for seven years. He was active with the German Township community in many ways; he was in the first graduating class of their paramedic program, served on the German Township fire department, and was a German Township trustee. He was a caretaker of the Lawrenceville Cemetery for many years. He had retired from Navistar following 33 years of service. He enjoyed working on International Scouts and spending time with his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife, Georgiana (Clere) Sarven; three children, Dale (Wendy) Erlewine, Kristi Erlewine (Don Hiller), and Kari Erlewine (Doug Cooper); son-in-law, Mark Handrick; grandchildren, Alex Erlewine, Ryan (Sarah) Erlewine, Kaitlyn Erlewine (Matt Haskins), Kevin (Chelsea) Erlewine, Robert “Max” Hiller, Jackson Handrick, and Leah Handrick; two great-grandchildren, Hadley and Lillian Erlewine; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna McGillivray in May of 2009; a daughter, Mary Susan Handrick; a sister, Nancy Evans; and his parents. Funeral services will be held at 12 pm Friday in the Lawrenceville Community Church, 3880 Lawrenceville Dr., with Pastor Art Thibeault officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of the services in the church. Burial will follow in Lawrenceville Cemetery.
