Robert “Bob” Leighton Whited passed away on his 69th birthday on February 10, 2026 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born on February 10, 1957 in Springfield, the son of George and Lula (Francis) Whited. Bob enjoyed being outdoors fishing, hunting, and camping. He was an extremely hard worker and was a dedicated employee at McGregor Metals. He retired from there after 27 years and rarely missed a day of work. Survivors include his two children, Jamie (William) White and Eric (Monica) Whited; grandchildren, Chloe White, Clayton (Khloe) Whited, Ainslee (Jaelynn) Whited, and Austin Whited; great-granddaughter, McKynna “Charlie” Knox; ex-wife/dear friend, Debbie Whited; three brothers, William, Gary, and Thomas Whited; several nieces and nephews; and his Hop Bar and Machinist Club family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael Whited. More than anything Bob was a family man, and he will be dearly missed by those who love him. Visitation will be held from 3-5 pm Saturday in the Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 5:00 pm with Pastor Paul Dowdy officiating. Condolences may be shared online at www.jkzfh.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with Bob's expenses.
