Rodger Dale Buckley Sr. (Hoppy) was born August 23, 1944 to Anna Laura Bryant and William J. Buckley in Ashland, Kentucky. He passed away in Springfield, Ohio on August 20, 2025, just days before his 81st birthday. Rodger served his country as an Army Ranger and then succeeded in many careers as well as owning Buckley & Sons mechanical.
Rodger was a large man with an even larger personality. He loved working hard, tinkering in his barn, fishing, hunting, joking with family and friends and most of all, living on his farm with his wife of 58 years, Naomi Buckley. They married in December of 1966 and raised 5 children together, was active in all their grandchildren’s lives and always helping others in need.
Rodger was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Bill, Bob, Linda and Janet as well as his daughter Mary Payne and brother-in-law John Vanover.
Rodger is survived by his wife Naomi, children Rodger Dale Buckley Jr, Jodi Clifford, Dan Clifford (Marlyn), Crystal Norton (Todd), many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life is to be held at an undetermined date at this time. Arrangements entrusted to the Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home. Condolences may be shared at www.jkzfh.com.
