Ronald Lee Shaw, known affectionately to his friends and family as Ron, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at the age of 72 in Springfield, Ohio. Born on January 13, 1953, to the late Clarence "Bud" Freeman and Hazel Freeman, Ron was a man of great character, strength, and humor, whose legacy will be cherished by all who knew him.
Ron is survived by a loving family, including his daughter Rhonda (Holly) Shaw; his brother David (Donna) Shaw; his sister Sandra Ipock; his adored grandchildren, Cory and Cloe; and his great-grandchildren, Nova and Amir, who brought him immense joy in his later years. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, his siblings Rosco Skaggs, Rebecca Diesel, and James Robert McDowell, and the love of his life, Kelly Henson (Lanum), with whom he shared countless treasured memories.
A proud resident of Springfield, Ron was a respected entrepreneur who established and operated the successful Ron's Sewer & Drain. His dedication to his work and the community it served was evident in the reputation he built for reliable and excellent service. His professional associations and contributions to the industry were a testament to his commitment and passion for his craft.
Ron's interests and hobbies painted the picture of a man who loved the great outdoors and the simple pleasures in life. An avid sportsman, he was a big fan of Busch Beer and spent many an hour enjoying target shooting, bow hunting, and fishing. His enthusiasm for firearms earned him the title of a true gun aficionado among his friends and fellow enthusiasts.
Animals held a special place in Ron's heart, and his kindness towards them was a trait that endeared him to all living creatures he encountered. His gentle spirit and generous nature were evident in the way he cared for and appreciated the beauty of the natural world.
Ron's life was a testament to the values he held dear - hard work, dedication to family, and a deep appreciation for the joys of life. His laughter and stories will be deeply missed at family gatherings, where he was always the life of the party, regaling everyone with tales of his adventures and exploits.
