Shirley Marie Huenke

Shirley Marie Huenke, 80, of Springfield, passed away Friday, April 11, 2025 at Kettering Health Dayton. She was born September 19, 1944 in Springfield, daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Longo) Meinberg. Shirley was a member of Saint Bernard Catholic Church, where in the past she had been very active. She served as a CYO Athletic Director, where she was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the youth athletic programs. She loved to play golf and travel, especially to Florida with her husband. She also enjoyed mowing yards and was affectionately known as the “Lawn Lady.” Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, Robert E. Huenke; three children, Christopher (Jody) Huenke, Nicole (Darren) Schimmoller, and Timothy (Bethany) Huenke; grandchildren, Matthew Schimmoller, Jake (Rachel) Schimmoller, and Jordan Beller; and three great-granddaughters, Sophia, Alayna, and Emma. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Deacon Earl Rogers officiating. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services.
