Sophia Neuhart
With deep love, we announce the unexpected passing of Sophia Neuhart, 86, devoted mother and grandmother, on May 23, 2026. She was born on February 7, 1940 in a log cabin in Flat Gap, Kentucky.
Sophia moved to Ohio in the late 1950s, to seek out opportunities outside the rural farm where she grew up. There she met her future husband, Floyd, whom she was married to for over 36 years. She worked in many service industry jobs, was a stay-at-home mother for many years, and finally found a calling at Honda of America, where she retired in 2000.
She moved to Fairborn, Ohio in 2003 and became a member of the Fairborn Senior Center and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 576, making many friends along the way. She always enjoyed seeing members of the Senior Center as well as residents of local assisted living and nursing homes during pot luck where everyone loved the desserts she would bring for the monthly lunch service.
She is survived by her children, Floyd Jr. (Beverly) and Rob (Jean); grandchildren, Shelly (Brandon) Ruenger; Kristina (Bryce) Timmons; and Anthony Neuhart; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd E. Neuhart Sr.; three brothers, Elzie, James, and Harold Estep; and sister Opal Estep.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home at 1002 East High Street Springfield, Ohio at 1 p.m. on June 2, 2026 with Pastor Paul Dowdy officiating. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Condolences may be shared online at www.jkzfh.com.
