Steven Edward Hively, 75, was called home to his Heavenly Father on September 25, 2025, in Springfield, Ohio. Steve led a happy, active life filled with family and friends. He especially loved cheering on his grandchildren and spending time with his loved ones.
Steve was born to Leonard Lee and Patricia Mae (Remmetter) Hively in Springfield, Ohio, on June 27, 1950. He was blessed to marry his high school sweetheart, Judy Kay (Kelley) Hively, on June 11, 1971, and together they shared over 54 wonderful years. They raised two children: Kelley Erin (Hively) McLeod (John) of Springfield, OH, and Shane Travis Steven Hively (Colleen) of Waynesville, OH.
Steve worked for International Harvester for 46 years, beginning right out of high school. Following that, he also worked at Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home, where he cared for families in their times of need. He also served as a soccer coach and referee, and as a youth group leader for many years, impacting countless teens. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, cars, and helping others. Most of all, Steve loved Jesus and people with all of his heart.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Daniel Hively.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Hively; his sister, Linda (Hively) Cooper (preceded in death by her husband, Tom); his sister-in-law, Kathy Harris (former spouse of Daniel, and her husband Terry); his children, Kelley (John) McLeod and Shane (Colleen) Hively; and his six grandchildren: Shane and Bryce McLeod, and Caden Dawn, Carson, Shepherd, and Summit Hively. He will also be remembered fondly by an abundance of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 p.m., with a memorial service to follow, at:
