Steven "Steve" Michael Ratliff

Steven Michael “Steve” Ratliff, 55, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024 in his home. He was born November 18, 1969 in Urbana, the son of Dale E. and Carolyn Sue (Payton) Ratliff. Steve was a veteran of the United States Army, Field Artillery Branch. He spent some time living in Florida, where he worked at the Veteran Affairs office in Tallahassee. In Springfield, he worked at Klosterman Bakery and Dr. McKee’s office. He enjoyed woodcarving, making walking sticks, and he loved watching all kinds of sports on tv. Survivors include his mother, Carolyn Sue Ratliff; three children, Michelle Brown, Christina Ratliff, and Steven Michael Ratliff II; grandchildren, Mia, Emma, and Lucas; siblings, Brenda (Joe) Smith, Shiela (Gene) Walker, Ronald (Nicole) Ratliff, and Victoria Ratliff; stepsister, Selena Malone; special cousin, Jason Payton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Dale, and brother, Doug Ratliff. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services. Private burial will be held at Dayton National Cemetery. Condolences may be shared with Steve’s family at www.jkzfh.com.
