Terrance "Terry" Charles Metz

Terrance “Terry” Charles Metz, 82, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024 in his home with his family by his side. He was born November 18, 1941 in Springfield, the son of Charles and Mary Alice (Marshall) Metz. Terry was a retired Bricklayer with Local 22. He was a member of First Christian Church. He was happiest when he was in his barn or out baling hay in the field. He enjoyed going to the Farm Science Review, growing tomatoes, and anything to do with tractors. He loved attending the Clark County Fair and was a huge supporter of 4-H. He loved celebrating Christmas with his family. Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Arlene (Souder) Metz; two children, Terry Lee Metz and Stephanie (Lee) Richardson; grandchildren, Ami (Caleb) Kelley, Tina (Ben) Phares, Jamie (Sean) Fero, Christopher (Natasha) Bussard, Erich Bussard, Derek (Coty) Dillahunt, Sara (Zach) Metz, Nicholas Bussard, Ciera Richardson, and Savana (Amanda) Thacker; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Nathan, Manny, Noah, Abby, Ethan, Joleigh, Lukas, Issak, Keagan, and Audrey; brothers, Gary (Teresa) Metz and Tim (Karen) Metz; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two children, Lynn McCarty and Stephen Bussard; siblings, Roger Metz and Paulette Burchnell; and his parents. Terry’s family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Cherish Hospice, and especially to nurse Jenny Angel. A celebration of his life will be held from 2-4 pm on Friday, September 20, 2024 at the American Legion Post 6, 1913 E. Pleasant St. Springfield.
