Virgil Francis McConnaha, 71, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Springfield on March 9, 1954. Virgil had retired from Pentaflex, Inc. Everyone who knew him was touched by his kindness, his sense of humor, and the way he could make friends with anyone. He loved to talk, laugh, and connect with people wherever he went. He enjoyed working with his hands and could fix or build just about anything. Whether it was working on cars or tinkering in the garage, he was always working on something. He loved hopping on his motorcycle and taking off for a ride, especially on a sunny day with no plans—just the open road and the wind in his face. He also enjoyed scratching lottery tickets, always hoping for a little luck and having fun with it no matter what. He had a soft spot for late-night snacks and those random texts he’d send to the family at all hours. You never knew what he was going to say, but it always made you smile. That was just who he was—full of life, laughter, and love for everyone around him. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Frances “Darlene” (Gilbert) McConnaha; three daughters, Sonya Vogel, Stella Rife (Jody Rice), and Stephanie (Kenny) Propst; five grandchildren, Monty McConnaha, Virgil (Mindy) Rife, Jr., Dustan Conley, Austan (Nikki) Conley, and Jeffrey (Michaela) Sharpe; three great-grandchildren, Aubree McConnaha, Karsyn Rife, and Kynleigh Conley; brother, Phillip McConnaha, Jr.; sisters, Peggy Rothgeb and Pearl Boswell; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marion (Foulke) McConnaha, and brother, Raymond Foulke. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 12 in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with funeral services starting at 1:00 pm. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Mausoleum. Condolences may be shared online at www.jkzfh.com.
