William Joseph Brown

William Joseph Brown, lovingly known by family and friends as “Ben Joe,” passed away peacefully at the age of 72 in Springfield, Ohio. Born on December 17, 1953, Ben Joe spent most of his life in Ironton, Ohio — a place he proudly called home and where he built a life centered around family, memories, and the things he enjoyed most.
Ben Joe had a love for working on cars and could often be found outside tinkering with engines or fixing things up. He was also an avid collector who enjoyed collecting pocket knives, Zippo lighters, and many other unique treasures over the years. One of his favorite pastimes was talking on the CB radio, something that brought him a lot of enjoyment and connection with others.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of more than 30 years, Brenda Sue Brown. Brenda was truly the center of Ben Joe’s world, and the bond they shared was evident to everyone who knew them. Her passing left a place in his heart that could never be filled. He was also preceded in death by his son, William Scott Brown, who tragically passed away in 2023.
Ben Joe is survived by his loving daughter, Tracy Dickerson; his grandsons, Bryson Brown, Ethan Roberts, and Drayke Hannah; and his granddaughters, Whytley Hanshaw and Chestina Bowman. He leaves behind countless memories that his family will forever cherish.
Ben Joe will be remembered for the simple joys that made him who he was, the love he had for his family, and the memories he created with those around him. His family finds comfort in knowing he is reunited once again with Brenda and Scott. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
